Day 27:
There is always a way out
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV)
God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it. 1 Corinthians 10:13b (NLT)
Question to Consider:
Who could I ask to be a spiritual partner to help me defeat a persistent temptation by praying for me?
I need more than one spiritual partner. I need various perspectives when dealing with my issues. One person might be able to help me with one area while another could help me with the other. The reason: different people will see temptations differently. One person might see my impatience as valid and might encourage me to complain, while another would understand why I should refrain from doing that.
While I believe everyone should have at least one spiritual partner, I think it would be beneficial to have more. However, there will be times when, regardless of how many people you have to turn to, it will seem as if no one is available to talk you through your temptation. That’s when it’s time to call on Jesus, the ultimate spiritual partner. I think those times are created to draw us closer to Him.
Lord,
I ask that you help us follow your Word – you’ve provided strategies that have been clarified for us through Pastor Warren and we are grateful. Help us to be strong in mind and be more aware of how temptation works so that we may be better equipped for handling it and not giving in to it. Let us be a help to one another so that we are able pick up a fallen friend and when needed, they’ll be able do the same. AMEN.
