Every temptation is an opportunity to do good
Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. James 1:12 (KJV)
God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12 (NLT)
Question to Consider:
What Christlike character quality can I develop by defeating the most common temptation I face?
Aside from the same issues I mentioned last year, I struggle with patience.
I used to consider myself a very patient person, but lately I find my patience growing shorter and shorter. I often feel anxious and I just don’t have the tolerance to deal with the things I used to. I find myself mentally complaining when people ask me for additional favors and I just have a general sense of impatience.
I feel as if my nerves are just raw and that I’m five seconds away from a meltdown. It seems like the more tired and exhausted I feel, the more my patience is tested. I don’t want to snap at someone and say the wrong things – I definitely need God’s help in re-developing my patience.
