Day 21:
It is my responsibility to protect the unity of my church
Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. Romans 14:19 (KJV)
Let us concentrate on the things which make for harmony and the growth of our fellowship together. Romans 14:19 (Ph)
Question to Consider:
What am I personally doing to protect unity in my church family right now?
Despite the challenges I’ve faced at church, it seems like there has been a shift and that despite differences, people are trying to a little harder to work together. I could be delusional – but I haven’t heard any complaints about our leadership in awhile and it seems as if there has been a greater out-pouring of love.
To answer the question, though, I can’t say what I’m doing is phenomenal, but despite how I feel – and I’ve really been feeling tired and crappy lately, I try to keep my commitments when it comes to the Mime Ministry. Somehow I feel that what we do softens the hearts of congregation and opens them up to receive the sermon that follows. I don’t participate in very many different ministries, but the ones I am involved in, I try to make sure I do my best. I’m not perfect, but I’m doing the best that I can.
What about you?
“Focus on what we have in common, not our differences.” p. 161
“Other believers will disappoint you and let you down, but that’s no excuse to stop fellowshipping with them.” p.162
