Day 17:
I called to belong, not just believe
So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Romans 12:5 (KJV)
In Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Romans 12:5 (NIV)
Question to Consider:
Does my level of involvement in my local church demonstrate that I love and am committed to God’s family?
I have drastically cut back on the number of ministries I’ve been involved in at church. I’m still a part of the Mime Ministry and I edit the newsletter, but I’ve become more and more exhausted. Last year’s response still sums up my sentiments.
Of course since some of my responsibilities have shifted, I can sustain the same level of activity at church as before, but I still feel that same, torn between family and church pull in opposite directions and it’s such a strain at times.
It leaves me feeling tired and completely run down. I just keep reminding myself that there is a reason for every season in my life and this one is no different. Of course I won’t figure out the reason until much later, but in the meantime, I’m just trying to hold on as best as I can.
“God wants you to love real people, not ideal people. You can spend a lifetime searching for the perfect church, but you will never find it.” p.137
