Day 15:
Purpose #2 -
You were formed for God’s family
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will. Ephesians 1:5 (KJV)
His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. Ephesians 1:5a (NLT)
Question to Consider:
How can I start treating other believers like members of my own family?
If I’m going to treat other believers as if they were my own family, that would mean that I’d have to spend time with them. I’d have to go beyond just saying “hi” and hugging them at church. It would mean that I’ve got to check on them at home, call them, and ask them how they are feeling. In other words, the relationship doesn’t end when we leave church. It continues throughout the week.
I’d have to be available to them, especially in their times of need. If they get sick, I’ll be visiting them at the hospital. If they are sad, I’d be there trying to cheer them up. Whatever I’d go out of my way to do for my family members, that’s what I should be doing for believers, also.
“Because God is love, he treasures relationships.” p.117
