Day 11:

God wants to be my best friend

The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Psalm 25:14 (KJV)

Friendship wih God is reserved for those who reverence him. Psalm 25:14a (LB)

Question to Consider:
What can I do to remind myself to think about God and talk to him more often throughout the day?

I can’t rely on my own memory to remind myself to think about God, so I have set reminders on my computer to go off every two hours.  When I hear the beep, I stop whatever I’m doing to take a moment to pray.  They are usually very short prayers.  Sometimes I just take that time to say “thank you.”

What I’d like to do now, is add some reminders to meditate on a scripture.  I still haven’t been able to get into the habit of this very important practice.  If as Warren suggests, that when we meditate on God’s Word, those are the times when He will speak to us, then I really need to make this a priority.

I don’t want to hold a one-way conversation, because nothing is better than the feeling that God is speaking back to me.  I need to make more time for Him to speak to my heart.

How will you remind yourself to talk to God?
