Day 8:

Purpose #1: You Were Planned for God’s Pleasure

For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. Psalm 149:4 (KJV)

The LORD takes pleasure in his people. Psalm 149:4a (TEV)

Question to Consider:
What common task could I start doing as if I were doing it directly for Jesus?

If I’d iron or fold clothes as if I were doing it for Christ, I’d probably enjoy those activities a thousand times more.

If I did more dedicating of those seemingly unpleasant tasks to God, I’m certain, I’d begin to feel closer to Him.  The problem isn’t that I don’t know this – it’s that I somehow forget to put it into practice and before I know it, I find myself complaining about something I just don’t feel like doing.

I don’t believe that attitude brings pleasure to God at all.  God has given us all we need, even the secret to fully enjoying life:  Do everything joyfully as if you were doing it for Him personally and before you know it, you’ll be whistling while you work.  Before you know it you’ll learn to enjoy yourself even in the midst of unpleasant circumstances.

It’s really a matter of choice.  When you choose to do things with a positive attitude, it brings pleasure to God.

How might the idea of doing things as if you were doing them for God affect the way you do them?
