27 JanWhat’s on your bucket list?

100 year old woman dies a day after getting her degree

sunsetThey said it was the last thing on her bucket list.  Harriet Richardson Ames, a hospice patient, held on until the day after she received documents verifying that she had indeed, completed her long desired degree.

I saw this article on Yahoo and almost cried. That got me to thinking about all of the things that I have on my bucket list – all the things I want to do before I die.  I created my list years ago when I was about 21 and although there’s a few things on there that I have actually had an opportunity to cross off, there are still so many.

Of course, I won’t bore you with the whole list, but here’s 10 things I still want to do before I die. And since I don’t know how much time the good Lord has given me, I’d better get to it – I don’t want to run out of time.

1. Write and publish several books

2. Finish learning Spanish

3. Take several mission trips to countries in Africa; to Jamaica; to Haiti

4. Visit Alaska during the summer solstice and enjoy 24-hours worth of sunshine

5. See the pyramids

6. Watch the sun set over a California beach

7. Take an RV trip across the US

8. Open a group home for teenage mothers

9. Purchase a home with at least 2 acres of land (to share w/family)

10. Be my own boss

That’s my abbreviated list. What’s on your bucket list?

Hi Kiesha: I read your article about 10 ways to get RTs and liked it, followed you and came here. Nice site.
I operate a Christian Devotional Site also. (I see you have it linked with this – thanks). I also operate a Tech support site at http://raywaldo.com
Let’s keep in touch. I sense the Holy Spirit’s connection. We may be able to share in several areas.

Thanks for stopping by – I’m so glad that article brought you here via Twitter! I’d love to stay in touch and share. I can’t wait to check out “Can the Church Learn from Domino’s Pizza?” It’s wonderful meeting you – be blessed!

  3. It truly is a remarkable and poignant story, reminding us all that life is short and we only have so much time to do the things we want to do. I recently stumbled across my first bucket list that I wrote when I was twelve and I revised it. Now I’m trying to work my way through it all and it’s encouraging to see others like you, who are trying to do the same. I grew up in Alaska, so I can say that the summers are absolutely beautiful and the sunshine all day, while amazing, gets old after living with it. But still go and see it. Quite the sight to see. Good luck with everything!
