26 JanLearn to rely on God’s grace

On 4th Sundays, I minister with the mime team at my church. This Sunday, the song was so powerful that as we ministered to the congregation, the song ministered to my soul for real! We mimed to “Oh, My Soul Loves Jesus” – and I tell u the overwhelming feeling of love for Jesus felt like it would burst through my heart. Oh, it was amazing. What’s even more amazing is that each of us got an opportunity to rely on God’s grace.

We normally practice for three weeks, but this time we were only able to practice a few times over the course of one week. We had to cram what normally takes three weeks into a very short period of time. We were so nervous and afraid we would mess up. The CD skipped a few times during our opening scripture, making us even more jittery, but at the last minute God’s grace kicked in and we did a fantastic job.

I thank God for His grace, because without it, I’d be able to do nothing. Throughout my entire life I’ve witnessed God’s grace working for me. During college, when I’d run out of time to study, I’d take the exam and discover that the questions were about the few things I did study – that’s God’s grace. When we purchased our first home, our credit wasn’t the best, yet we were still able to secure a decent loan – that’s God’s grace.

Grace fills in the gaps, it takes up the slack, and reinforces the weak spots. Relying on grace can be scary at times, but when you put your full trust in God, He never fails – He always comes through. If we learned to rely on His grace more often, our lives would be a thousand times less stressful.

Have you ever had to rely solely on God’s grace? Have you ever experienced a time when you knew you were not prepared or fully capable to perform or complete a task, yet somehow you were able to pull off incredible things?

  3. It is when we trust in God’s grace that we truly become saved. Everything we recieve in life is from Him. We are forever in His debt as he lends us each breath. Luckily, by the same grace of God, we also don’t need to repay Him. For we cannot repay him. It is impossible. Thank you for sharing your testimony of God’s grace!
