21 MayDay 11: Becoming Best Friends with God

The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. Psalm 25:14 (KJV)

Friendship wih God is reserved for those who reverence him. Psalm 25:14a (LB)

Question to Consider:
What can I do to remind myself to think about God and talk to him more often throughout the day?

Today’s lesson is a reminder of the exact reason why I read this book over and over again – I’m starting to think that maybe I need to start reading it every six months – because I’ve forgotten this most important lesson: To constantly talk to God – to practice his presence.

Yes, I thank and praise God throughout my day and when I listen to Christian music, I think of him, but somewhere along the way, I stopped having those open-ended conversations with him.

To remind myself, any time I find myself worrying about something – I’ll stop and talk to God. Anytime I find myself, feeling a negative mood – frustrated… lonely… confused… tired… bitter… resentful – I’ll stop and talk to God. Anytime I feel like no one is listening or cares about what I have to say – I’ll talk to God.

Important Quotes:

“God deep desires that we know him intimately.” (Warren, 86)

“Friendship with God is built by sharing all your lfe experiences with him…You can carry on a continuous, open-ended conversation with him throughout your day, talking with him about whatever you are doing or thinking at that moment.” (Warren, 87)

“The key to friendship with God is not changing what you do, but changing your attitude toward what you do.” (Warren, 88)
